News Link: 19-year-old Charlotte Durif from France has had an extraordinary few weeks of climbing: two 8c+ (5.14c) first ascents and a massive 8b+ (5.14a) onsight, all in France. In mid-October, she redpointed The Wall (8c+) at Combe la Vielle, and less than two weeks later she completed the 50-meter overhang of Pull Over at Grotte de Galetas.
Then, a couple of days later, in the Verdon Gorge, Durif tied into a 100-meter rope and onsighted the first four pitches of Ultime Démence in a single mega-pitch: 5.13c, 5.13b, 5.13c, and 5.13a. Durif said the final two pitches alone, when combined, merited 5.14a. The next day, she linked the first two pitches of Ramirole: 5.13c/d and 5.13b.
