7/30/13 - During his visit to the Grampians, Australia, Daniel Woods has made an ascent of Dai Koyamada's Wheel of Life (V15/5.14d) in the Hollow Mountain Cave.

Koyamada made the first ascent in 2004 when he linked four problems: X-Treme Cool (V9/10), Sleepy Hollow (V12), Cave Girl (V12/13), and Dead Can’t Dance (V11/12). The problem requires more than 60 moves across the cave, causing some discord over the grade. It was originally suggested as V16 and has now settled into V15, but some believe its length warrants the route grade of 5.14d. Woods agrees with the latter: "I had to get into the enduro mindset to complete the Wheel... A sport climb without the bolts." Woods counts this as one of his top three "roof/adventure climbs."

Woods has made good use of his time in the Grampians, ticking a dozen boulder problems V11 and up, including Amma Gamma (V14) and Stimulation (V14).

Date of ascent: July 23, 2013
