Painted Blue was shot in the Canadian Rockies over the last two and a half years. The locations include: Yamnuska, Grassi Lakes, Killer Cave, Whiteman Falls, Redman, and Curtain Call. This documentary also includes original footage from the first winter ascent of the Greenwood-Jones on Mt. Temple and numerous still shots from ascents in the Rockies, Alaska and Pakistan. Many of Raphael's partners give their thoughts about their partnership with Dr. Slawinski over the years. Also "Raph" himself shares his ideas about climbing, training, partnerships and physics.

The finished version will be released in August of 2009 and will be submitted to various film festivals. A DVD version will be sold starting this November 2009.
