The Citadels of Sinai Granite - Gallery
Photos by Alexander Orlov web.mac.com/aorlov - The Sinai “half island” closely connects Africa with the Middle East. This half island is wedged between the Gulf of Suez to the west and the Gulf of Aqaba to the east. The charming landscape of this “half island” is truly the most beautiful place of Egypt. A desert plateau makes up the north, while the mountains of the south are built from the crystal rock and painted the whole spectrum of colours. Located here is the Silk Road, where merchants transferred their goods from the Far East to Egypt and farther. READ MORE

Eurotour by Miquel Catita
An obsessed rock climber for the last ten years, Miquel loves bouldering, sport climbing, and multi pitch anything and everything that allows him to interact with the rock, be outside, observe colors, feel sensations... A year ago he became injured, so instead of sitting around he began taking photos full time. Now post recovery he always has a camera and ponders his new dilemma: get on the project or shoot it? Koh Yao Noi - Thailand
Photos by Gerhard Schaar The island of Koh Yao Noi is a one hour longtail boat ride from the climbing mecca of Krabi. As you cruise around the two by seven mile island on a scooter you'll notice everything goes a bit slower here, food and accommodations are affordable, everyone is more relaxed, and "sabai-sabai" is the motto here. About 100 routes are are spread out over six areas and the climbing has lots of tufas and pockets. A majority of the climbs have been established by locals of Phra Nang Beach and veteran Mark Miner. El Cap and Half Dome in a Day
Photos by Andy Chasteen In June 2008, I found myself in Yosemite Valley with Midwestern hardmen, Tony Mayse and Clay Frisbie, who were there to snag the coveted Half Dome/Nose link up in a day. I was along for the ride as the pack mule and photographer. The pair climbed hard, endured exhaustion, got down safe and shared an incredible experience. In post trip reflection (and depression from returning to the midwest) I replayed the visuals in my mind of Tony zipping up the Zig Zags and Clay eating up the Pancake Flake, but that wasn't what touched me the magical place and the people I shared the experience with are what left an impact on my soul.
Photos by Nathaniel Walker - 2007
As a climber, naturalist and "Amateur" photographer Nathaniel has been living on the road for over 10 years. He moves with the seasons in search of perfect weather, preferring to keep the conditions cool and dry. This collection of photos is from his 2007 season that covers a good portion of the US and a few spots Canada. As you can see, no detail is overlooked — from the perfect sunset to hidden fossils to venomous snakes.
Pent Up (5.12c) - Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Colorado
Photos by Jason Nelson, Jack Jefferies and Cody Sims visualadventures.com On June 7, 2008 Jason Nelson, Jack Jeffries, and Cody Sims, put up Pent Up, (5.12c 700 feet), a new seven-pitch Black Canyon line. The climbs sits in the South Rim’s Chillumstone Gully to the climber’s left of Count Your Lily Pads (III 5.10 A2). Both routes share the same last pitch, originally aided on the FA of Lily Pads (John Kaandorp and Steve Demaio; 1983) due to rain wetting the route. READ MORE

Thailand's Crazy Horse Buttress
Photos by Gerhad Schaar The "Crazy Horse Buttress" in Chiang Mai is northern Thailand's best developed crag, with about 150 routes. SLC climber Josh Morris is one of the main developers and runs Chiang Mai Rock Climbing Adventures. His sustainable development approach is well done in contrast to southern Thailand. A "taxi" takes you to and from the crag, where you find toilets, well maintained paths and benches with sunroofs for hanging out a climber feels almost spoiled here. Chiang Mai is a nice alternative for travelers who want to escape the crowds and get a real view of northern Thailand culture.
A Week in the Bugaboos - Photo Gallery
Photos by Luke Laeser and Mike Brumbaugh - Mikey and I finally made a trip to the infamous Bugaboo Range within the mighty Canadian Rockies at the end of July, 2007. Mikey’s been a good friend since we met sport climbing at Rifle in Colorado and we’d been talking about taking a trip up to this fantastic British Columbian spot after years of drooling over the photos. The well traveled trade routes from Steck and Roper’s 50 Classic Climbs have been one of my passions since I started climbing in high school and now I was finally going to get a chance to sink my meat into the splitter granite cracks of the Beckey-Chouinard (West Buttress) on South Howser and the East Ridge on Bugaboo Spire. New River Rendezvous 2008
Photos by Daniel Brayack The 6th annual fundraiser for New River Alliance of Climbers is known for its laid back atmosphere, killer venue, and top-notch organization. Folks started streaming in Thursday May 15th, enduring some early rain only to be rewarded by a sunny, breezy and perfect Saturday. Fundraising totals outstripped previous years, ensuring that the organization can continue its mission of replacing old hardware and maintaining trails. The most exciting news was the unequivocal success of the "Step Up or Stay Home" No-Waste Initiative. The practically empty dumpsters testified to the success of the plan. 2008 New River Rendezvous Photos by Mary Morton
I saw a lot of incredible things at this year’s 2008 New River Rendezvous. I saw a guy lead a 5.12b in a steady rain. I saw a kid hula-hooping on the slackline. I saw a teenager flash a V9 boulder. I saw a dance floor full of strangers united into a tribe through music. And, most inspiring of all, I saw hundreds of passionate people make a big difference through a simple change by producing zero garbage at this years event. Maybe rock climbers should be in charge of saving this planet. READ THE RECAP

Easter Bouldering at Albarracin
Photos by David Balcells — www.canpirra.com Albarracin is the Spanish bouldering mecca with excellent orange sandstone cracks, slabs, roofs, featured with pockets, sloppers and crimps. This year we decided to have our easter vacation in Albarracin. So we packed up everything in our old caravan and headed for a full week of bouldering in the middle of March when the weather is cold and dry. The bouldering is located near Teruel in northwest Spain, on a high plateau at around 4000 feet.
Ko Lao Liang - Paradise in Thailand
Photos by Gerhard Schaar On my second trip to the limestone wonderland of Thailand, I started off at the mecca of Ton Sai. After only a couple nights I moved on to Ko Lao Liang which is a great little resort and more quiet. Not far from here is Koh Yao Noi, one huge perfect beach with the adjacent cliffs. After ten days it was time to move on again. Back in Ton Sai, for a few days then to Chiang Mai for a few days of climbing at the Crazy Horse Buttress. Then to a new place, Chiang Daeng, to check out some newly established lines. At the nearby village, we witnessed some real Thai culture, soon to vanish as the the old generation passes away. A great experience and so different to the super touristy south.

Spring Break at Joshua Tree
Photos by Andrew Chasteen A trip into the west is a welcomed treat for a trio of rock-hungry Midwesterners. Jeremy Collins, Jarod Sickler and I had resolved to brave the LA smog for a chance to crag in the clear skies and desert rocks of Joshua Tree National Park and the San Jacinto Mountains; AKA Tahquitz. An old, used guide was loaned our way and pointed us in the direction of such classics as Loose Lady, Hot Rocks, Left Ski Track, Clean and Jerk, Walk on the Wild Side, and The Vampire. Five days later, we tucked tail and headed back home with aching bodies and a couple of photos to share.
