Sunset Rock Trail Day
Photos by Luke Laeser - On June 6th, 2009, forty volunteers participated in a National Trails Day work session above Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Lookout Mountain at on of the Southeast's most historic and treasured climbing areas — Sunset Rock. Organized by Chuck Weber from PMI Ropes, Luis Rodrigez from the TBA Gym and in conjunction with the Southeastern Climbers Coalition (SCC) plus efforts from TeamWorks (the Access Fund’s youth initiative) work crews moved several tons of mulch and rock to control errosion on the Buff Trail. The very first SCC trail day occured at Sunst Rock back in 1993 to help keep the climbing spot in good shape and strengthen the relationship between the National Park Service and climbers.
