TRANGO FLEXCAMS - 2009 Gear Guide

Single-stem cams are all the rage, with a versatile, plug-deep configuration great for the smallest sizes (hyper-thin cracks) and in any case where “walking” is not an option. Although Trango FlexCams (trango.com) have been on the market since 2004, this year sizes 1 to 4 have been reconfigured as a traditionaloffset four-cam design (as opposed to the Splitter 4Cam, which in 2009 becomes its own line with five sizes), to match the FlexCams’ larger sizes. The full set’s a key, lightweight, consistent part of your rack

  1. HONED AXLE LENGTH
On all sizes, Trango carefully calibrates axle length to maximize the cam’s in-placement stability, reducing any unwelcome walking.
  2. LIGHT MAKES RIGHT
Trango is able to offer some of the camworld’s lightest units (1.8 to 8.5oz for this year’s size range) by using such weight-savers as milled-out lightening holes in the cam lobes.
  3. ULTRA TAPE SLINGS
FlexCams clip at three different lengths: a direct clip to the loop, the UltraTape sling doubled (4 inches), and the sling un-doubled (8 inches). The slings are also color coded, for quick size differentiation.
