Never Forgotten

Nearly 10 years after the death of her then-husband, Alex Lowe, Jennifer Lowe-Anker has authored Forget Me Not: a Memoir ($29.95, chesslerbooks.com), chronicling her life with this gifted climber. Their story is written on the backdrops of El Cap, K2, Everest, and many other peaks worldwide. Lowe-Anker includes letters written by Lowe at icy bivouacs and wind-buffeted summits, offering a glimpse into the heart of this conflicted climber. A personal account from longtime climbing partner Conrad Anker (with Lowe on Shishapangma the day he passed) details their friendship and Anker’s struggle with survivor’s guilt. Later, Anker and Lowe-Anker found solace in each other’s company, marrying in 2001. This beautiful memoir pays homage to a fantastic climber, father, and husband.
