Tech Tips: Daisy Chain Dangers
These are aid climbers’ tools, used to linkone’s harness to aiders or ascenders, butthey’re commonly and improperly usedas personal anchor tethers. Daisy chainsshould not be used as anchoring systems,for two important reasons. First, the bestcasescenario for a climber dynamicallyloading a daisy chain is a perilously harshimpact that could break the daisy, rip theanchor, or injure the climber. Second, itis extremely easy to clip a daisy chain insuch a way that you are clipped throughloops that only are designed to hold bodyweight.
