In October 2012, Kiwi climber Mayan Smith-Gobat made the first female ascent of the famed Punks in the Gym (5.14a) at Mt. Arapiles, Australia. Punks is hailed as the world's first 5.14a, established by the late Wolfgang G├╝llich in April 1985. Smith-Gobat spent more than two years working the route, finally redpointing the line on October 28.
