Climbing Holiday Gift Guide: La Sportiva Skwama Climbing Shoe

By James Lucas ,

Need a gift for that special climber in your life? This month we're running new product recommendations every weekday until the holidays. Check out the rest of the list.

After making the two mile hike into Lower Chaos Canyon, my beaver paddle feet felt wide in my shoes. Using the pull tabs on the back of my new Skwamas, I pulled the leather slipper on and used the Velcro closure to cinch them down. The shoes fit my wide foot well. The back of my foot sucked into the heel cup, making heel hooks feel solid, though on a few, the low profile of the shoe did make it feel less secure. The shoes feature a moderately aggressive toe box. They shine on toe hooks with an ample sticky rubber toe. The performed well in the gym and on boulders, helping me send a number of my projects in comfort.
