Psyche Night

By Climbing ,

On Friday November 28th Rich Purnell and M9entertainment hosted the first annual Psyche Night show at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden, CO. The night was a time to celebrate the upcoming mixed ice climbing season and an opportunity to show off their new revolutionary film Ice Axis-Disco as well as other films from the m9 vault such as last years hit film MX. Ice Axis-Disco is the first climbing film to incorporate special camera effects such as "time suspension" -- a 360 degree view of the climber in action and in the zone -- previously only seen is box office blockbusters, . The audience was thrilled to see such live action in a climbing film. Also on hand was Tim Aex of Battle Aex Productions who presented a slideshow with images from Summit County's spectacular ice climbing and a behind the scenes look at some of Colorado's most intense new mixed routes in Vail, which complemented the films. At the shows end a plethora of gear from ropes to tools was then given away as door prizes from Psyche Night sponsors: La Sportiva, The Bent Gate, Trango, BlueWater and all who attended received a copy of Climbing Magazine; not bad for a ticket price of $5.00. Purnell says "This first show was such a success not only in attendance but pure energy. Psyche Night will go on every year for sure to promote this amazing sport." Look for the same show in the upcoming Wasatch Ice Climbing Festival in Orem Utah or go online at to feed your need for mixed ice climbing psych media.
