The First Ascent of Greenland's Mirror Wall

By Climbing Staff ,

Watch Leo Houlding, Matt Pickles, Matt Pycroft, Waldo Etherington, and Joe Mohle make first ascent of the Mirror Wall, a blank tower of granite rising out of the Edward Bailey Glacier in Greenland's polar region. The Mirror Wall stands taller than Yosemite's El Capitan, and the team spent 12 nights on it's 1,200m Northwest Face. Fighting freezing rain and topping out in a snow storm, they managed to free all but two of the 25 pitches, grading the route 5.12c, A3+.
