Gear Guide 2020: Outdoor Research Inception Aerogel Gloves Review

Our picks for the best gear of 2020.

The Outdoor Research Inception Aerogel Gloves.

Made with PrimaLoft Aerogel insulation, OR’s Inception Aerogel Gloves threaded the needle between warmth and performance—they’re a midweight glove (5.5 oz each) perfect for ice climbing. Our tester had no issues keeping his digits warm down to 20° F, and “On the warmer days of drippy Lake Willoughby ice, the 4-way-stretch soft-shell kept things dry on all but the wettest pitches.” The silicone dot-matrix palm let him hold his tools like they were “an extension of the arm,” while the touchscreen-friendly Sensor tips made it easy to operate any camera or phone. MSRP: $50–99
