The North Face North Dome Chalkbag.

Until now, we’ve either had to transport our chalk in a separate container or fill our bag at home and pray it didn’t leak. TNF has come up with an ingenious waxed, chalk-pot-style, roll-top closure. This solves two problems: leakage (“zero spillage,” including holding the bag upside-down and shaking it) and the broken-too-soon drawstring that kills your bag. The North Dome is burly, made of 100% recycled polyester with a DWR finish, and took a beating on the local sandstone. Our tester also appreciated the zippered stash pocket, dual brush holders, and how easy it was to pull the roll-top closure over the rim in “climbing mode.” Weighs 5 oz empty. MSRP: $29, thenorthface.com
