The Mountain Equipment Dihedral Pant.

It used to be hard to find a good climbing pant, but now there are options, including the Dihedral. First, on the rock: The Stretch Ascender fabric provided full range of motion when highstepping on climbs like Don’t Mess with My Thing, a modern slab in the South Platte, Colorado. Meanwhile, the low-profile metal-button waist closure—attached with webbing, so you know you won’t lose it—was unnoticeable under my harness, and the adjustable hem drawcord kept the cuffs off my shoes. Off the rock: I was keen on the fashion-forward fit and deep rear pockets. The left rear pocket is plenty big to accommodate a guidebook or potty wipes, and the right rear features a zipper so you won’t lose your keys. MSRP: $100
