The Outdoor Research Women’s Optimist Sun Hoody.

Named after Beth Rodden’s historic FA of The Optimist (5.14b) at Smith Rock, Oregon, this lightweight sun hoody is ideal for hot, rugged trad and cragging adventures in the sun. It’s made from a high-performance nylon/spandex blend that provides UPF 30 protection, holds up to abrasive surfaces, and feels soft to the touch. “It’s a very comfy layer that I just plain enjoy wearing,” said one tester, who wore the piece to the gym and on multiple trips to the south-facing cliffs of southern Colorado. In addition, the three-panel hood with drawcord is fully adjustable, and the half-zip front makes it easy to put on/take off, as you often do while relayering on multi-pitch climbs. MSRP:$89
