When hanging the draws on my project on a recent winter’s day, I wisely decided against flailing bolt-to-bolt in the cold. Instead, I broke out the new Pongoose Climber 1000+, a new, longer (14 feet!) Pongoose that easily let me tag the third clip from the ground, as well as clip up every second or even third bolt on the climb. As with the Pongoose Climber 700, which we’ve reviewed previously, you get the same ingenious 3-in-1 head (draw clipping, rope clipping, draw removal), and you can use the telescoping pole as a bubba brush or camera monopod. The pole itself is longer (3.3 feet collapsed) and beefier, more like the painter’s poles of yore, so you’ll mostly hand-carry the 28-0z 1000+ versus lashing it to your pack. MSRP: £89, pongoose.com
