When it comes to wine, I’ll admit, I’m no expert. I’ve never detected notes of oak or moss. To me, wine is either good or bad, and my favorite kind after a day of climbing is the kind in my glass. Based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Westmount’s wine is definitively on the “good” end of the spectrum. We like Westmount because they’re a climber-friendly brand. Co-founder Robert Moshier is a climber and former mountain guide, and the company donates 3% of total sales to the Access Fund and Protect Our Winters. Their Holiday Gift Pack includes one bottle of their 2015 Pinot Noir, one bottle of their 2016 Pinot Gris, and two GoVino shatterproof wine glasses. I found the Pinot Noir to be a smooth and relaxing option after a cold day of ice climbing or skiing, perfect for sipping in a hot bath or under a blanket. The Pinot Gris is a brighter option, more suited to a communal dinner after a good day of sport climbing. The included GoVino glasses are a great for classing it up in the outdoors, without the need to worry about glass shattering in your pack or around the campfire. They’re made of a flexible BPA and BPS free polymer and dishwasher safe.
Bonus: Westmount is giving a 20% discount on the Holiday Gift Pack to Climbing readers with promo code ClimbOn.
