Winter means cold conditions. Belaying at the sunny sport crag, resting between burns on the boulder problem, or kicking into vertical ice pillars demands warm clothing. The Black Diamond Stance Belay Insulated pants offer a warm layer of coverage with their ThermoLite insulation. The full-length side zippers make stepping in and out of the pants with rock shoes, approach shoes, or ice boots easy. The pants also fit easily over or under a harness and offer a two-way zip fly for belaying if doing the former. At 18.7 ounces, the pants weigh little and ball up easily for stashing in a pack or bouldering pad.
