The AR, which stands for “all-around,” is equally at home in the gym, at the crag, on a big wall, and in the alpine. Versatile, compact, and comfortable, this harness sports big, stiff gear loops, ice clipper slots, and an airy feel. “When I climb in the mountains, every ounce counts, and packing light is essential for fast travel,” one tester said. “This harness only weighs 13.6 ounces and is extremely comfortable for all-day wear.” A 2015 redesign added softer edges on the waist and leg loops, and “it’s one of the easiest harnesses to rack on thanks to the wide open and sizeable gear loops.”
Why It’s Great for Women
The waistbelt has a slightly higher rise so it sits above a woman’s hips, not directly on them. A big, easy-to-use hook on the back allows for quick release of the leg loops for peeing with a harness on, and majorly adjustable leg loops fit ladies with all sorts of thigh sizes.
