Edelrid’s Shuttle Chalk Bag is perfect for the eco-conscious climber—it’s made up of 100 percent recycled polyester and Bluesign materials left over from Edelrid’s production. Weighing only 3.4 ounces, the Shuttle is a nice, light bag, and has a cushy fleece-lined interior and drawstring closure.
I took the chalk bag up to Boulder Canyon in Coloradofor granite sport climbing. The included waist belt fit perfectly over my harness and against my back. It cinched down easily for a nice, close fit that kept the bag anchored in place—I never had to go searching for it mid-crux. I also took the Shuttle bouldering on Flagstaff Mountain. The bag has a good stiff mouth, keeping it open to ensure a quick chalk-up when you’re hanging horizontally. Plus, the soft fleece inside is a nice textural break from the sharp rock I was slapping my hands against and held onto some chalk to help to coat my hands efficiently.
Finally, you get a brush holder cleverly labeled “tick mark remover” to remind you to leave no trace at the boulders—be it brushing off others’ tick marks or your own. As silly as it seems, that little label reminded me to clean up after myself. As the bags are made of leftover fabrics, each is a different color, making each one unique. The Shuttle I used was a warm tan color. If your current bag is on its last legs, consider Edelrid's Shuttle for a great, environmentally friendly replacement.
