At less than seven ounces per shoe, the Cruzer Psyche boasts a minimalist and breathable design for short approaches, cragging, and easy walk-offs. The back of the heel folds down, transforming them into slip-ons for belaying and super-easy on-off. A split tongue cuts down on weight and accommodates a wider range of foot shapes, including high arches. Available in half-sizes, the Cruzers are particularly good for smaller feet, and “the insole is padded and shockingly comfortable,” one tester said. Cutting ounces does sacrifice durability, as some testers found they wore out after a few months of daily use.
Why It’s Great for Women
Lightweight shoes reduce leg fatigue on big mileage days, and a women’s-specific last has a narrower volume for cranking down the shoe when you need increased stability on scrambles.
