David Lama, age 14, has redpointed Reini’s Vibes at Massone in Arco, Italy, a route considered “easy” 5.14c, according to www.8a.nu. Lama, who lives outside Innsbruck, Austria, has climbed more than a dozen 5.14 routes in several countries during the last year. More impressively, he has nearly onsighted several of these desperate routes, sending half a dozen 5.14s on his second effort. Lama has done two 5.14b routes at Misja Pec in Slovenia, including one, Vizija, that he redpointed in March on his second go. Lama won his age group category at last year’s World Youth Championships, and last month he finished second in his age group at the European Youth Cup.
