11th Semi-Annual Horsetooth Hang
October 14th, 2006—Fort Collins, Co: The 2006 Neptune Mountaineering Horsetooth Hang is going to be the best festival so far. For those unfamiliar with the event, the “Hang” as it is commonly known is a non-profit bouldering festival and trash clean-up that takes place at the world famous boulders of Horsetooth Reservoir. Although structured as a friendly competition, the Hang is focused more on creating a day of camaraderie, community, and resource stewardship. Due to the close proximity to Halloween the theme for this year’s Hang is “Superheroes,” where everyone is encouraged to dress as their favorite superhero (or create a new one) for the day, and prizes will be awarded for best costume, most original superhero, coolest superpower, etc.
This year’s event will be held at three popular Horsetooth areas: Rotary Park, the Scoop Area, and the Piano Boulders. There will plenty of cranking during the day, and tons of festivities at night. We warmly welcome everyone, regardless of age, climbing preference, or ability level. Also, the trash clean-up aspect of the Hang provides a great opportunity for climbers to become actively involved in the stewardship of their natural resources. All proceeds will be donated to the Access Fund, the Rocky Mountain Field Institute, and the Horsetooth Hang Educational Grant (A grant that provides travel and stewardship opportunities to youth 25 and under).
In addition to a day of excellent climbing and community, the Hang’s afterparty is unmatched. We are very excited to announce that it will be hosted by Miramont Lifestyle Fitness (Formerly the Gym of the Rockies), and due to super generous support from Neptune’s, Miramont, The Spot Bouldering Gym, Jax Outdoor Gear, Sterling Ropes, New Belgium Brewing, Climbing Magazine, REI, La Sportiva, Trango, Organic, Inner Strength Rock Gym, The Mountain Shop, Vintages and a slew of other sponsors, we will have the best raffle of any festival this year (Last year we gave away over $8,000 in raffle prizes to climbers and volunteers). In addition, to the huge raffle, a few activities will include: a sweet slideshow, live music, foosball, dodgeball, and free New Belgium beer.
We hope to see everyone there, and for more information about the event, and to register online, please visit www.horsetoothhang.net . If you have questions, please feel free to contact Cameron at email@example.com, or by phone at (970) 219-0019.
