The 4th Annual Boulder Adventure Film Festival takes place November 6, 7 and 8th in Boulder, Colorado.
Surf monster waves in Liberia, climb sheer rock in the Alps, swim with sharks! Get ready to feel the power of nature through film, lectures and hands-on participation.
The Adventure Film Festival is the international arena for the best and most inspiring independent adventure films. Adventure Film is not bound by location, like a mountain, a river or an ocean. It is, however, inexorably tied to risk, the unknown, and those experiences that bring us to the edge of our seats with our hands over our eyes or our fists in the air.
BENEFITICIARYThe main non-profit beneficiary of this year’s event is the Leave No Trace, an international non-profit dedicated to conscious recreation and environmental education.
WHEREThe Festival takes place at a selection of venues in downtown Boulder including the historic Boulder Theater and B-side on 14th Street.
WHATFor 2008, the Adventure Film selection committee has awarded twenty-five new films from over 170 entries on surfing climbing, biking, skiing, exploration and beyond. Included in this selection is our Environmental Film Series as well as our Kids and Family Adventure Films. These films tackle topics as broad as melting ice caps and polar bears to native land rights and clean water yet maintain a distinct theme of adventure. The festival features three days of motion pictures starting on Thursday the 6th and lasting into the night for an after-party on Saturday the 8th.
The festival weekend kicks off with a one of a kind Outdoor Filmmakers Workshop on Thursday, Nov 6th 5:30pm at the B-side on 14th Street. The Adventure Film Filmmakers Workshop is designed to tune the audience in to making outdoor films of their own. Four top outdoor filmmakers will lead discussions and flow through equipment and examples from 5:30 until 6:30PM. Immediately following the panel discussion, we’ll roll into another amazing Award Winning feature Film.

WHOAdventure Film was created in 2004 by adventurers and filmmakers wishing to spread the creativity, enthusiasm, and activism inherent to outdoor adventure.
“I’ve been exposed to an incredible world of adventure, environmental and outdoor-oriented films through years of expeditions and work on outdoor film productions,” explains Jonathan Copp, Boulder Adventure Film Festival Founder/Director. “We created this film festival because there is power inspiration within these stories as I. They have the power to change.”
