5.14 Roof Crack Redpointed

Didier Berthod has returned to Greenspit, the 5.14a roof crack he climbed two years ago in Italy, and completed a traditional redpoint, placing gear as he climbed. The 24-year-old Swiss climber first pinkpointed Greenspit by skipping the bolts on the roof but preplacing his removable pro. The route climbs a horizontal finger, hand and fist crack across a 45-degree overhang for nearly 40 feet. During his redpoint, on his second day of work on the climb this year, Berthod placed seven cams.

Berthod is featured in the new Peter Mortimer film Return2Sender making the first ascent of what’s likely the hardest pitch at Indian Creek, Utah, called From Switzerland with Love (5.13+).
