American Lizzy Asher has proved she can compete on a world level in lead climbing as well as in bouldering. The 18-year-old finished 13th at the World Cup in Aprica, Italy, Oct. 22-23, after placing as high as 7th in three bouldering World Cups earlier this year. Austrian Angela Eiter won the Aprica World Cup. The young Austrian’s second victory in a row moved her into first place in the women’s overall standings, ahead of veteran Muriel Sarkany of Belgium. In the men’s field, Alex Chabot of France returned to the top of the podium with a superfinal victory over archrival Tomás Mrázek of the Czech Republic, who still holds a solid lead in the overall standings.
