Boulder Brawl II

Rosaasen, Payne win Boulder Brawl II

Continuing his domination of North American bouldering comps, Nels Rosaasen easily won the Professional Climbers Association’s Boulder Brawl II on November 8. The 21-year-old from Saskatchewan beat a strong field at the Spot bouldering gym in Boulder, Colorado, to take his third PCA victory in a row. Among the top U.S. bouldering competitors, only Chris Sharma was absent. Angela Payne and Natasha Barnes, who finished one-two at a big local comp at the Spot three weeks ago, ended up one-two again among the bigger and stronger group at the Boulder Brawl. Despite the absence of some top contenders, including No. 1-ranked PCA climber Alex Johnson and No. 2-ranked Lisa Rands, the victory on Saturday was Payne’s biggest competition win yet.
