September 4, 2015 - American John Brosler, 18, won a silver medal in speed climbing at the World Youth Championships in Italy today. Brosler, who was raised in Texas and now attends the University of Colorado in Boulder, has specialized in speed climbing and holds the American record for the 10-meter course. In the finals in Arco, he held an early lead against Russian climber Georgy Artamonov but then slipped momentarily, halfway up the 15-meter wall, and Artamonov surged past Brosler for the victory.
Grace McKeehan, fourth in the Female Youth A category, was the second highest-placed American at the Arco speed comp, with several others in the top 10. The full U.S. results are below, courtesy of USA Climbing.
