May 10, 2004Seattle-based Climbing Community Launches Climbers4Kerry CampaignThe Seattle-based rock climbing community has launched a grassroots, nationwide campaign to help John Kerry become president. To deliver their message and motivate climbing communities around the nation to get involved, Climbers4Kerry has created a website, www.climbers4kerry.com, and is distributing bumper stickers, and t-shirts.Cimbers4Kerry believe that John Kerry’s position on the environment, resource management, and domestic policy is consistent with American climbers’ values and that he will move to mend relations with our international friends, thus the international climbing community, fostering unity and understanding.Climbers4Kerry’s main objectives are to:Motivate climbers of all ages to vote in this and all elections;
Inform climbers about who John Kerry is, what he stands for, and why he has what it takes to be our president;
Get other climbing communities around the nation involved with the campaign;
Enable climbers throughout the country to voice their concerns and ideas via the Climber Testimonials page on the Climbers4Kerry website; and,
Raise $150,000 by July 25th for the Kerry campaign.
In September, as a symbolic gesture to 'Take Back North America' and show their support for John Kerry, Climbers4Kerry will work with the climbing community in an unprecedented effort to send a constant stream of climbers up the North American Wall on El Capitan in Yosemite National Park.
