Climbing magazine is the premier magazine for all things climbing. For more than 45 years, we’ve delivered the skills, gear, and destinations to enable and inspire our readers to do more of what they love: climb! We’re looking one editorial intern for the fall 2018 semester to assist in the creation and maintenance of content for and our related social media channels. The ideal candidate is a capable, self-sufficient, experienced writer, editor, and climber with a strong familiarity with Web content, as well as current news and trends in the sport, and a genuine passion for climbing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and write original articles for, including one long-term project over the course of the internship (feature article)

  • Cover breaking climbing news in a timely fashion to keep up with the news cycle

  • Provide research and fact-checking support for stories

  • Promote content across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram

  • Upload content from our print edition to

  • Find and post the latest climbing videos


  • Available to work 15–20 hours per week from our Boulder, Colorado office

  • A genuine passion for and experience with climbing and the outdoors

  • Strong writing/editing skills and an adaptable voice

  • Previous experience with a content management system (CMS)

  • Basic Photoshop skills (resizing, cropping, adding text)

  • Knowledge of AP style
