Angela Eiter of Austria and Ramón Julián (Ramonet) Puigblanque of Spain won the 19th Rock Master competition in Arco, Italy, the most prestigious annual competition in the world. The two-day, invitation-only Rock Master, which tests both onsight and redpoint skills, is held on a permanent outdoor wall, 60 feet high and 53 feet overhanging, in front of a crowd of thousands.
Eiter, 19, was the only competitor, male or female, to send both the onsight and redpoint routes. This is the third Arco victory in a row for Eiter. Ramonet, 25, finished second to Evgueni Ovtchinnikov of Russia during the onsight competition, but came back strong the next day to seal the overall victory.
Rounding out the festivities, Kilian Fischhuber of Austria and Mélanie Son of France won the men’s and women’s bouldering competitions. Tomasz Olesky of Poland won the speed competition.
