Belgian Muriel Sarkany

Favorites in Aviles World Cup

Nearly halfway through the competition schedule, Alexandre Chabot of France and Muriel Sarkany of Belgium continue to dominate World Cup difficulty (lead) climbing. Over the weekend, Chabot and Sarkany easily won the fourth stop on the circuit, in Aviles, Spain. Spanish men defended the other places on the podium, with Patxi Usobiaga finishing second and Ramón Julián Puigblanque taking third. For the women, it was Sandrine Levet of France and Martina Cufar of Slovenia rounding out the leader board. Cody Roth was the only North American competing. Roth, who made the finals of a World Cup earlier this year, did not fare nearly as well at Aviles, finishing tied for 29th place.
