Friends of Joshua Tree revives Climb Smart in the Park

May 23-26, 2003 — Joshua Tree National Park Climb Smart presented by The Friends of Joshua Tree (FoJT), is a fun-filled and action packed four days planned in Joshua Tree over Memorial Day weekend. Climb Smart is the FoJT’s biggest event of the year. The requested donation of $85.00, supports conservation efforts and rescue services carried out by FoJT and Joshua Tree Search and Rescue (JSTAR) and covers three nights camping, a dinner and breakfast, numerous educational clinics covering topics like wilderness first aid, rope handling tricks, anchor clinics, movement tips, self-rescue, climbing photography, and more. A sizeable gear raffle and free stuff giveaway is customary as well. On Sunday the 25th, a volunteer trail maintenance project with the NPS is planned. Come on out and give back to one of America’s best climbing destinations! For more information please visit: www.friendsofjosh.orgor call 760-366-9699
