Adventurers, Climbers, and Local Mountain Zealots mark your calendars!
Sunday, March 12th Roxanna Brock, Friends of the Inyo, Eastern Sierra Climbing Coalition, BLM, and USFS will be hosting the second Buttermilks Restoration Project at the Buttermilk Boulders. Restoration work party starts at 10am at the lower Buttermilks parking lot up the Buttermilk Road just off of West Line near Bishop. Food and drink provided by Great Basin Bakery. We will be working to reduce the spider web of user-trails, and to further protect and enhance the habitat qualities around the magnificent cluster of giant boulders know as the Buttermilks. We will work for a few hours, climb till dark, then head down to Mountainlight Gallery in Bishop for a inspiring slideshow from Roxanna’s recent big wall expedition to a remote region in Russia, where she climbed a first ascent during the North Face Lake Baikal Watershed Expedition. Lake Baikal, located on the border with Mongolia is the largest freshwater lake in the world. The lake formed by a unique continental rift holds as much freshwater as all the great lakes combined. The expedition focused its efforts in the Sayan Mountains. With her journey, Roxanna brought awareness and funding to the good work of The City Bridge Foundation, helping to provide cancer medicine and treatment for children suffering from aplastic anemia due to pollution in the region.
Slideshow starts at 6pm and there will also be a silent auction sponsored by: Black Diamond, Patagonia, Wave Rave, Mammoth Brewery, Mammoth Mountaineering and Wilson’s Eastside Sports and many more!
