Houndears, the first of the Southeastern Bouldering Series Triple Crown, took place October 1st above the million-dollar gated community of the Houndears Golf Club outside Boone, North Carolina. Only one day a year climbers are allowed access to over one thousand problems that comprise one of the best boulderfields in the eastern United States.

This year the temperatures were warmer than usual, pushing smart competitors to focus on the crimpers and stay away from the heinous slopers. The open division lacked a national all–star turnout, allowing the Southeast’s strong local scene to vie for the cash.
