With no World Cup ice climbing series this year, last weekend's World Championships in Saas-Fee was by default the biggest European competition of the season. The comp was held in the "Ice Dome," the atrium of an enormous parking garage at the Swiss resort, with both speed and difficulty titles awarded.Harry Berger of Austria, fresh off a third-place finish at the Ouray Ice Festival in Colorado, won the men's difficulty comp. In the women's field, Petra Müller of Switzerland upset the German star Ines Papert, who had just beaten all contenders, male or female, at the Ouray comp.Photos and full results at Difficulty 1.
