La Sportiva and Grassroots Outdoor Alliance “Giving Greenback$”

La Sportiva N.A., makers of versatile technical climbing, mountaineering, Mountain Running® and hiking footwear, announces the launch of its 2009 Giving Greenback$ program at this week’s Outdoor Retailer in Salt Lake City. In conjunction with the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance (GOA), La Sportiva’s “Giving Greenback$” is a program that creates sales incentives for participating GOA dealers and allows their customers to give back to a good cause. “Partnering with the Grassroots Outdoor Alliance on Giving Greenback$ will create great brand awareness for La Sportiva,” says Jonathan Lantz, President of La Sportiva N.A. “It is important for us to contribute to the strength of the independent retailer, as the GOA is dedicated to preserving the sustainability of this outdoor channel and providing a quality experience for the La Sportiva customer. Giving Greenback$ promotes positive change, one dollar at a time, at a time when every dollar counts.” Through the Greenback$ program, La Sportiva will create incentives for approximately 17 participating GOA dealers to carry its S09, innovative Hiking, Mountain Running® and Approach lines. With rising support for these categories, La Sportiva will reach out and contribute to one of three beneficiaries on the retailers’ behalf. For each shoe that is sold from one of these respective categories, La Sportiva will donate a $1 to one of three charitable organizations: the Carbon Fund, The Conservation Alliance and Global Water. In turn, the program is designed to create a positive image for participating retailers within their community by announcing their participation and reporting the number of dollars donated. La Sportiva’s new Mountain Running® shoe, the Wildcat, and Hiking Flex Control Series, will be represented from these product categories. T.A. Kuepper, Executive Director of Global Water, states, “Global Water is honored to be a recipient of La Sportiva’s Giving Greenback$ Program.
