Alexander Megos ended the year in style by redpointing First Round, First Minute (9b/5.15b) in Margalef, Spain, on the last day of 2015. The route, first climbed by Chris Sharma in April 2011, is the young German’s hardest redpoint yet.
At his Instagram page, Megos recapped an eventful year:
“My first highlight of 2015 was Lucid Dreaming [in Bishop, California], my first 8C/V15. With Supernova (9a+/b) [in the Frankenjura of Germany], I did my hardest first ascent ever. Today! On my last go of the year, I did my hardest route ever…. Happy New Year everyone!”
Megos’ ascent of First Round, First Minute was likely only the third ever, following Adam Ondra’s second ascent in early 2014.
