Merrell Makes it Easy to Get Outside and Support National Parks


Online promotion and Facebook Contest offer Chance To Do Both and Win Freebies

ROCKFORD, Mich. (July 2009) – Merrell has recently teamed up with the National Park Foundation (NPF) to get people outside. Merrell’s commitment to the NPF is the largest made to date by any outdoor brand, and Merrell shares the NPF’s goal of educating and motivating people of all ages and activity levels to get outside and play in our national outdoor playgrounds. They’re putting their money where their mouth is with two summer promotions.

“It’s summer and we want to make it fun and easy for people to get outside and help support the national parks at the same time,” said Sue Harvey-Brown, marketing manager at Merrell. “What’s better than reliving and writing about your best outdoor experiences to inspire others to do the same? Plus, you could win Merrell gear and an annual pass for your next national park adventures.”

During July, Merrell will kick off two programs to further promote their relationship with the NPF. For the entire month, for every purchase of $100 or more of Merrell gear made on, Merrell will donate $10 to the NPF. In addition, starting July 17 th , Merrell will host a contest with a grand prize of an annual pass granting free entry to national parks and a whole wardrobe of Merrell footwear and apparel.

To take part in the contest, all people need to do is visit Merrell’s Fan Page on Facebook and share their National Park story in 150 words or less along with any related pictures or video. The stories that receive the most “thumbs up” / “like this” response will receive Merrell and national park themed prizes.
