8/29/13 - Wrapping up a school-break vacation in Europe, 12-year-old Mirko Caballero redpointed his first 8c (5.14b): Stop Sika at the Rawyl area in Switzerland. Caballero took only four tries to send the route.
"I felt really strong after two weeks bouldering in Magic Wood [Switzerland]," Caballero wrote at his Facebook page.
During his trip to Magic Wood, Caballero also did his first 8B (V13) boulder problem, One Summer in Paradise. In the past year, the young Californian has redpointed several 5.14a routes, in the U.S. and Europe, and flashed one 5.13d.
8a.nu, the climb-tracking website, said after the latest in Caballero's recent string of personal-best sends: "The only 12-year-olds in the history of climbing that have a better tick list are Ashima Shiraishi and Adam Ondra."
