Moroni on Salegosse – Fontainebleau (France)http://www.freakclimbing.com/
Gabriele Moroni, of Novara, Italy, has been on a roll lately, sending several routes in the 5.13b – 5.14b range, including Hawaiian Heroes, in Plan Bernardo, on his second attempt. The 19-year old also redpointed Durupputuculu (5.14b) second try at the same crag. Most notably, on August 14, Moroni nabbed Dave Graham’s Ceüse route, Bah Bah Black Sheep (5.14c/d) — a route known for thuggy movement and often-skipped, V11 boulder problem.
This year, Moroni placed seventh in the UIAA World Cup Youth Championship. In 2004, he finished third in the Bouldering European Championship. Moroni is sponsored by the UK climber Ben Moon, (moonclimbing.com), as well as Black Diamond, and FiveTen.Comment on this story
