21 November 2005 – Gainesville, FL – The Climb For Cancer Foundation announces its first annual nationwide mountain climbing event on June 24, 2006 to raise funds in order to help in the fight against cancer.The event, known as "50-50-1" will include climbing teams in all 50 states in the US, scaling the highest peak in each state on the same day. Each team will raise $5,000, which will in turn help to fund important research to find a cure for cancer, provide patient support services, and give a child with cancer the opportunity to attend Camp Sunshine. 50-50-1 stands for 50 states, 50 peaks, one goal.The Climb For Cancer Foundation was started by Ron and Dianne Farb to combine Ron’s love for mountain climbing with their desire to see an end to cancer. The Foundation acquires sponsors and donations in support of Ron’s mountain climbing expeditions, and then uses the money raised to help fund cancer research and support services. Ron has climbed five of the seven highest peaks in the world, raising more than $250,000.
