8/15/12 - This year’s Adidas Rockstars bouldering competition took place on August 10 and 11 in the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart, Germany, with Alex Puccio and Sean McColl coming out in first.Adidas Rockstars is unique in its format; not only do climbers compete in a finals round, but the top two also advance to a "super-finals" round, where the climbers race up identical boulder problems simultaneously and side-by-side.
During men’s finals, Sean McColl, Jon Cardwell, and Frenchman Guillaume Glairon-Mondet flashed the third and last problem, causing a three-way tie, forcing the setters to quickly set a fourth problem to eliminate one of the three for the super-final round. Cardwell and McColl advanced, where McColl flashed the super-finals problem. Cardwell could not execute the crux dyno, securing first place for McColl.
On the women’s side, Japanese climber Akiyo Noguchi and Alex Puccio made their way to super-finals. Puccio finished ahead of Akiyo, winning the competition.
