Puccio Third, Woods Fourth in Sheffield Cup

7/5/11 - Akiyo Noguchi (Japan) and Kilian Fischhuber (Austria) stood atop the podium at last weekend's Bouldering World Cup in Sheffield, England. This marks each climber's fourth 2011 BWC win. French climbers Melissa Le Neve and Cédric Lachat placed second, with Alex Puccio and Russia's Alexey Rubtsov coming in third. Daniel Woods placed fourth, following a strong second-place finish at Eindhoven two weeks ago.

Austria's Anna Stöhr has one less gold medal than Noguchi, but she remains first in rankings, albeit barely: Stöhr has 634 points compared to Noguchi's 629. Puccio—who has placed in the top 10 in every 2011 comp, with five podium finishes—ranks third. Fischhuber leads the men's rankings by a wide margin with 560 points. Dmitry Sharfutdinov of Russia is second, with 431 points, followed by France's Guillaume Glairon-Mondet, with 415 points.

The last BWC of the year takes place August 20 in Munich, Germany. Many of the BWC competitors will head to the World Championships in Arco, Italy, the week of July 15.
