Sean Isaac and Will Mayo made a winter ascent of Guillaumet in the Fitz Roy region of Patagonia, notable mainly for the speed of the outing. Not free to spend a month or more waiting for good weather in basecamp, the two climbed their peak on the third day of only six in the mountains. Isaac and Mayo followed the Amy Couloir on the Northeast Face, and reached the top in about four hours. Isaac, who was gone from his home in Alberta a bit more than two weeks, said, “Both of us have families at home, and we cannot afford the time to be away for too long, so blitz trips are more suiting. Of course it was pure luck, and we could easily have done nada.”
