Martina Cufar joined the short list of women who have climbed 8c (5.14b) with an ascent of Vizija, a 35-meter-long route at Misa pec in Slovenia. The 28-year-old Slovenian first checked out the route a year ago, attempted it seriously last March, and returned to it this winter after the World Cup competition season ended. She redpointed the pitch on December 21.

Other women who have redpointed 5.14b include Josune Bereziartu, Beth Rodden, Liv Sansoz and Marietta Uhden. Cufar, a past World Cup winner, said she might attempt harder routes down the road, but her “goal for next year is firstly to be better on competitions again.”
