Ice Bash Clinics:

  • Water Ice Climbing Primer (Novice) – Never Ever?? This is for you!! A comprehensive overview of the gear, the knots, the scene, the safety systems, and of course, the climbing. Prices to be announced.

  • New Leader’s Course (2 days) – This is an advanced level course for climbers who feel ready for the “sharp end”. Leading is very rewarding but one really needs to be prepared. Smuggler’s Notch has a huge variety of beginner leading terrain, making it ideal to take those first steps.

  • Waterfall Ice ClimbingWomen Only – Beginner climbing clinic for women, instructed by women.

  • Glacier Travel & Crevasse Rescue Techniques – Headed to the big hills? We’ll show you everything from how to rope up for glacier travel to high altitude camping tips to pulley systems to get your partner out of a crevasse.

  • Alpine Climbing Clinic – Get ready for light and fast – not quite vertical ice, and not quite glacier climbing – alpine techniques will get you up and down before the inevitable thunderstorm and in time for happy hour.

  • Mixed ice climbing – Learn necessary tips and techniques for climbing thin ice routes and drytooling rock, and switching mediums mid-pitch.

  • Companion Rescue – This course is open to those with prior climbing and ropework experience who want to expand their rescue toolbox. We will focus on partner rescue – escaping the belay chain, simple mechanical advantage, and safe lowering techniques. After a morning of “ground school”, we will move to the cliff and practice these new skills in different climbing scenarios.
