A weekend of golf, beer, food, laughs and as much climbing as you can handle. The Dirtbag Classic is an event put on every year in Bishop California. It is a weekend comprised of a golf tournament, lots of beer and climbing. We are putting on the 4th Annual Dirtbag Classic on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. This is a family event, so lets keep it clean … sort of. March is a tough month this year. Proceeds will go to the Bishop Access Fund.
Why do what we do?Growing up in Southern California, Bishop was the place to be as a climber. I would travel to Bishop every weekend during the climbing season not only to boulder at some of the best locations on the planet, but to also visit my brother in Mammoth Lakes. My brother and I would go golfing at the Bishop Country Club from time to time. He was an avid golfer, but didn’t climb. I was an avid climber, but didn’t golf. The views of the Sierras from the course were breathtaking. One day, it came to me that having all of our climbing friends come to Bishop and hang out at the same time would be awesome, but how. The golf tournament was born and it has come to be known as the “Dirtbag Classic”. It is my way of having all of the incredible people that we have met throughout climbing, meet up in one of the most beautiful places in the world to just hang out and catch up. What a better way than to get hammered playing in a goofy golf tournament with new friends from all over the U.S. I wanted to have something that no matter where anyone was in their life, there would always be the Dirtbag Classic. Bring the kids, wives and girlfriends, This is a family event.
