Check out the first annual Craggin’ Classic, coming to Golden, Colorado October 10-12. This major new climbing festival is presented by the American Alpine Club, and will feature Layton Kor (Guest of Honor), John Gill (’08 Underhill Award recipient), and Dave Turner (’08 Bates Award recipient). But the list doesn’t stop there. The Craggin’ Classic will be a one-of-a-kind opportunity to crag and party with American climbing luminaries such as Lynn Hill, Johnny Copp, Conrad Anker, Josh Wharton, Mark Wilford, Heidi Wirtz, Katie Brown, Eric Decaria, Chuck Fryberger, Rob Pizem, Ben Schmitt, Vera Schulte-Pelkum, Jack Tackle, Jim Donini, and more. The festival will also include over fifty athletes from abroad, arriving from the AAC International Climbers’ Meet in Indian Creek, Utah.
The Craggin’ Classic opens Friday night, October 10th, with a dinner sponsored by Mammut, followed by AAC annual awards, a Josh Wharton slide show, and concert by the Carnie Bums. Over the next two days, climbers will head to Eldorado Canyon, Clear Creek Canyon, and North Table Mountain, with opportunities to demo gear from industry partners. Dinners sponsored by Black Diamond and Asolo/Lowe Alpine will follow. On Saturday night Patagonia and the AAC will present a concert by renowned Austin, TX rock band, The Gourds. Jeremy Collins, climber and artist extraordinaire, will create four paintings to be auctioned off during the festival.
The $46 early-bird registration ($50 after October 1st) covers a breakfast, three dinners, drinks, mess kit, concerts, slide shows, Perfecto screening, demos, sponsored climbing sessions, yoga, massage, Craggin’ Classic Patagonia organic tee and Mammut pint glass.
